The Gravenstein Apple Fair is presented by Sonoma County Farm Trails on August 11 & 12 at Ragle Ranch Regional Park in Sebastopol. Celebrating its 39th year, the Apple Fair is a modern version of the “Gravenstein Apple Show” which began in 1910. The Apple Show was popular for many years before going on hiatus in the late 1930’s.

Resurrected in 1973 by the newly formed Farm Trails organization the Gravenstein Apple Fair is a showcase for this wonderful apple and local Agriculture, as well as for Sonoma County Artists, Crafters, and Entertainers. This year, the Gravenstein Apple Fair is featuring a fresh look and some exciting new attractions. Chief among the changes is an expansion of the fairgrounds, doubling the layout of the Fair. To create a more relaxed and enjoyable setting, the Fair now includes large grassy areas for exhibits, games, and great live music . . . think “Day on the Green,” with lawn chairs, beach umbrellas, and a red “Solo” cup of “Lagunitas IPA.”

Fair-goers will also still be able to enjoy food, drink and entertainment seated on hay bales and picnic tables under the shady oak trees. The Apple Fair has always been family friendly, and this year the focus is on children and the benefits of safe, healthy, locally grown food. Farm Trails recognizes the important role food, nutrition, and a healthy lifestyle play in combatting childhood obesity and juvenile diabetes. The connection between “farm to table” and living healthy are guiding principles at this year’s Fair.

Visitors will find more locally sourced food, agricultural & community resource exhibits, ag demonstrations, and activities that inspire children to “get up and move.” This year, it’s all about the kids! See you at the Fair!
